From Racking to Large-Scale Engineered Structures

Since being founded in 1972, APC has grown from a company specialising in pallet racking and cages to engineering large-scale structures to accommodate even the most complex of automated systems.

The internal fit-out of warehouses is evolving to become more dynamic than ever before. Historically, warehouses have been relatively simple and while there is still a wide variation in how occupiers use their space, automated systems and customised steel structures are in demand. The need for more efficient, sophisticated storage systems, steels structures and automated systems are largely driven by the growth in e-commerce and the globalisation of logistics.

APC's capabilities in design and engineering combined with the latest structural analysis software allows us to take on structural steel projects regardless of the size or complexity.

The engineering of our products is done locally to ensure a purpose-built design. Our in-house design and engineering team use a range of structural analysis software to attain accurate, reliable and detailed information. Structural analysis software allows our team to create a detailed 3D model and walkthrough of any type of steel structure regardless of the scope and size. From here, we can visualise the layout, calculate load requirements for all components, gather information to support leaner manufacturing and ensure the structure is capable of withstanding certain forces such as earthquakes.

Our software also integrates with the planning of machine and automated systems which means we can build a support structure to house even the most complicated array of automated storage and retrieval systems, chutes and conveyors. By using structural analysis software, we can design error-free structures and minimise the cost associated with rework and overproduction.

All modelling and analysis is undertaken to the requirement of the Australian Standard, AS4084-2012 Steel Storage Racking and other relevant standards.

As a result of our expertise, we provide customised and engineered mezzanines and steel structures, staircases, gates and handrails. We have proudly worked with some of the world’s leading system integrators across many diverse sectors to provide them with support structures for even the most complex automated systems.
