Coolpak Coolstores
Client: Coolpak Coolstores Ltd.
Location: Rolleston, New Zealand
Coolpak required a Satellite Racking solution for a total of 11 freezer and chiller rooms in its new facility to accommodate more than 30,000 pallets. The racking had to be engineered to the stringent seismic conditions of the Christchurch area.
APC’s semi-automated system stores and retrieves pallets from multi deep racking using remote-controlled Radioshuttle™ Satellites.
The system does not require the forklift to enter lanes for storing and retrieval, reducing the handling time and the risk of accident or damage to the racking structure. The Radioshuttle™ system offers increased pallet storage that reduces operating costs and improves performance in the supply chain.
APC’s solution accommodates more than 30,000 pallets and utilises more than 1,800 tonnes of steel with the highest rail level reaching heights of 12.75 metres. APC engineers used seismic engineering criteria to design and develop the racking to ensure the safety of staff and stored pallets and meet all relevant NZ standards.
