Knorr-Bremse Group are industry leaders in air-conditioning module maintenance and repairs. They have a global presence, and wanted to relocate their 10,000m2 purpose -built product assembly facility in Sydney as part of their expansion plan. They approached APC for a storage and installation solution that would help consolidate their factory and improve their supply chain efficiency
Briefing
APC were chosen as storage solution providers based on our ability to provide a fully customised racking solution on a quick turnaround time, without posing any major disruptions to other contractors as well
as their day-to-day work processes.
Challenge
APC needed to meet the urgent deadlines of Knorr-Bremse and coordinate closely with their project team and other contract suppliers. A total of 5000 pallet positions needed to be accommodated in the new facilities. To achieve the best outcome, the storage solution needed to be installed prior to disassembling existing equipment. This required intensive planning and swift execution from all project team members.
Solution
APC fulfilled the client’s stringent health and safety requirements whilst completing the project on budget and on time. We arranged the dismantling and disposal of their existing equipment to maintain smooth operations and reconfigured a substantial amount of existing racking from wide to narrow aisle. A large mezzanine area was constructed and Very Narrow Aisle VNA racking was supplied. On successful completion of this project, APC were engaged by Knorr-Bremse to upgrade existing Selective Racking to Narrow Aisle Racking at a separate facility.
Result
Not only did APC offer an outstanding customised storage solution, they did so with minimal disruption to the client’s business operations. Knorr-Bremse now have a new, purpose built manufacturing facility in Sydney that helps them streamline production, improve productivity and efficiently organise tools, equipment and stock.
